Transylvania University (www.transy.edu), a top-tier, independent, residential liberal arts college in Lexington, Kentucky, invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology.. This is a full-time, one year, non-tenure-track position, teaching in-person classes, beginning August 27, 2026. Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses in the Biology Program. The teaching load consists of two courses and associated labs per term, plus one short-term course in May (2-2-1). We are interested in candidates with the ability to teach a range of courses with a preference for candidates who could teach the following schedule. Fall term: Introductory Biology (Cells and Molecules) and upper-level Molecular Genetics, both classes with labs. Winter term: Introductory Biology (Cells and Molecules) and upper-level Biology course of their choosing through consultation with the Biology program, both classes with labs. May term: Non-majors biology with lab.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. or nearly completed Ph.D. preferred; Master’s degree in the sciences with appropriate experience will be considered.<s> </s>
