Transylvania University invites applications for the position of Part-time Peace Officer. The Peace Officer performs safety, loss prevention, parking and traffic control duties within an assigned area of the University campus, conducting regular vehicular and foot patrols and responding to emergency situations as appropriate.

 

Job Skills/Requirements

Duties include enforcing University parking and traffic regulations, providing directions and information, and rendering assistance to students, faculty, staff and visitors to campus. The primary responsibility of a Peace Officer is to maintain a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and the public, as well as all property on the Transylvania University campus. The ideal candidate will promote a positive image of the University and contribute to the overall success of the Department of Public Safety by enforcing all laws of the Commonwealth including policies and procedures set forth by the University. 

 

The position requires a HS education and one year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Age requirement 21 Years of age is required by law to be sworn in this capacity. 


Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience working for a law enforcement agency. Candidate must be able to obtain a Commission as a Special Local Peace Officer with the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. A valid driver’s license is also required. KLEC certification would be a plus.
