Transylvania University invites applications for a full time Peace Officer.

Job Skills/Requirements

Duties include enforcing University parking and traffic regulations, providing directions and information, and rendering assistance to students, faculty, staff, and visitors to campus. The primary responsibility of a Peace Officer is to maintain a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and the public, as well as all property on the Transylvania University campus. The ideal candidate will promote a positive image of the University and contribute to the overall success of the Department of Public Safety by enforcing all laws of the Commonwealth, including policies and procedures set forth by the University.

This position requires a high school education and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. By law, candidates must be at least 21 years of age to be sworn into this capacity. Kentucky Law Enforcement Council (KLEC) certification is preferred. Candidates must be able to work various shifts.

Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience working for a law enforcement agency, security experience, dispatching experience, and other jobs with use of force training. Candidates must be able to obtain a Commission as a Special Local Peace Officer with the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. A valid driver’s license is required.
